Director Welcome Note
Assalamualaikum & Welcome to ICoN,
Looking forward to 2020 and beyond, ICoN will embark on a more significant organizational role of bridging UMP to industry and community to become a more meaningful improved network. It carries a big responsibility in ensuring that UMP exercises professionalism and competency in the process of its engagement as well as achieving sustainable linkage with industry and community.
The CEO@FACULTY PROGRAMME coordinated by ICoN has benefited the students as well as the faculty members from the three learned CEOs namely Dr. Hari Narayanan of the Motorola Solutions Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Datuk Seri Ir. Azman Mohd of Tenaga National Berhad and Tan Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur of Ministry of Higher Education.
UMP has individual expertise and talents who as a team can affect the process and succeed provided it makes very clear to them of their specified roles and responsibilities and put in place a governance system that effectively promotes interaction and communication within the university.
While UMP has the tools and materials the team needs to achieve its goals, it must also ensure that they are smartly brought together to enable planning, execution and delivery of highly impactful and sustainable programs in collaboration with the industry and community to realise its mission in ‘Communitizing Technology’.
Shouldering the big responsibility, ICoN will stride to prepare and play its role in facing the challenges especially the one arising from the revolutionary Industry 4.0 which is envisioned to cause a drastic shift of the industry norms of doing things. This certainly demands a change in the university norms of doing things particularly in the teaching and learning approach besides ensuring dynamic and relevant curriculum structure and courses.
Together we make things happen.
