It is situated in the distinct of Gambang, 30km from Kuantan, the capital city of Pahang, an estimated of 350km away from KLIA and consequently 10km from the Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport Kuantan.

Division of Industry & Community Collaboration or ICoN (previously known as Industrial Partnership & Community Relation Division) was established on 15 February 2012. On 1st August 2015, university has upgrading the department as well as the roles are strengthened to help the University become a reference centre that excels in contributing to human and discovery of knowledge through contact with industry and society.

As of now, ICoN divided into two (2) main divisions namely Industry and Community. The role of Industry and Community is to strengthen the current and future partnership between industry and university as well as community in the area of university-industry partnership and university-community relation platforms.

3. Industries that can benefit the UMP (in terms of human capital, research and development), the State and society;
4. An industry that does not involve the financial liability or harm to the UMP for each collaboration undertaken. The involvement of the UMP just in terms of expertise, facilities and students;           
5. Legitimate Industry in terms of the law. UMP could not be convicted of any offence regulations or laws made by the industry through the collaborations undertaken;
6. An industry that does not involve the interests of any political organisation, certain tribes, religions and societies;

A Document of Understanding is required for special projects which are comprehensive, i.e. have certain reference terms to achieve certain targeted mission and activity for a certain duration, which involves procedures, regulations and finance as well as require specific monitoring between UMP and the relevant party. Simple one-off activities (as known as Quick-Win Projects) such as school adoption programme, field trips and industrial talks do not require any Document of Understanding. Submission of a proposal paper is sufficient.

The said document takes approximately three months to be processed and approved.

4. To compile all community engagement activities in one database for the reference of local and international party.
