In Malaysia, it was found that almost all public and private institutions already have an organization known as the Unit or the Office of Occupational Safety & Health operating ranked universities such as UKM, UPM, USM, and others where it has deployed a range of activities relating to safety and health at work.

A gathering with occupational safety and health have also been established at the national level include higher education institutions and research and development institutions as a platform to discuss issues and problems related to occupational safety and health faced.
UMP Occupational Safety & Health Management Office (OSHMO) is to manage the aspects related to safety and health in the UMP under the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994).

OSHMO also acts in planning programs or activities that will be implemented to carry out the demands of the act that is in the OSHA 1994 as far as practicable in the UMP and also apply the 'Safe Work Culture' within all staff and students of the UMP.
